NPoint Gold

NPoint Gold provides the functionality to preview, trim, segment and create new sub clips from existing clips on a video server (Creation of sub clips is video server dependent or may require additional Transcoding software). All NVerzion applications are configurable in both function and form giving NPoint an almost unlimited number of configurations. NPoint Solutions can be modeled to satisfy your patricular needs.

Traditional NPoint provides the functionality to view, trim or segment a clip. Choose a source to control. Choose a clip to review. Play the clip. Optionally find trim or segment points and store this information in the database. Create virtual sub clips from existing clips. Some video servers allow you to to create entirely new clips from segments of existing clips. NPoint provides the tools to mark the segments and create the new clips.

This window provides control and status about the machine you are controlling. The upper left text indicates the name of the device. It is also a drop down window that allows you to choose the device you want to control
Most NVerzion applications have a window similar to the one on the left. This window is configurable and you can add and remove meta-data fields based on your needs. You can also configure the name of each field. NPoint uses this window to provide a name for the clip plus descriptive text. The bottom area is used to show segment information. The database can hold up to 19 segments which include the in point and the duration. Clicking on the number on the left will update the segment information of the GUI, see below. The location is determined from the configuration file and the duration is set by means described below.

These windows display the trim in point, out point and duration. The buttons provide the power to mark the in point and out point, jump to these points, or clear the current information. When the desired points are chosen, the Trim button will store the information in the database.

The Segment Area provides the functionality to Mark segments, Jump to those segments, Add Segments, Delete segments and save this information to the database.
The Segment / Trim tool bar provides a graphical look as to where segment and trim points. In addition the vertical bar shows the current position in the time line. Clicking on the time line area will move the video to that position on the time line. Left clicking on a segment or trim point will move you to that point in the time line. Right clicking will move you to the out point.
An optional Video Monitor window gives you the ability to watch your video directly from the application. This feature does require additional hardware. There is a limitation to the number of low-res encoders that a single computer can support.
Other, optional, buttons provide a wide variety of functionality. Buttons shown here vary from jumping set, or configurable amounts forward and backward along the timeline. Others cause Archiving, Reloading of the video, opening the New Copy window Etc. The 'Grab Image' button, not shown, enables you to choose a frame to save as a reference bitmap or Icon. Transcoding software can also be accessed from NPoint allowing you to convert your video from one format to another.
The New Copy window gives the power to certain video servers to make new files from existing ones. These 'sub-clips' can be made in a variety of ways. Trim Save takes the trim information entered in NPoint, creates a new sub-clip and retains the original. Trim Over Write uses the original clip name for the new clip and deletes the original. Trim Destroy uses the new Trim Name but deletes the original. The Segment options use the Segment information entered in NPoint to create sub clips. The new segment names may be automatically assigned using Auto Name or each name can be manually entered. Each clip takes a certain amount of time to create, dependent on its size and type of Video Server. You can create a list of segments to create. Status is given while your list is implemented
The Delete List Dialog, not shown above, is accessed by hitting the keys CTRL-ALT-D. This window gives you the power to select up to 20 clips on the Destination device and have them deleted. The Kill Date button allows you to delete material that is passed the user specified expiration date for that media. NOTE: We limit the number of deletes to 20 because someone accidentally selected everything and purged all their material.

The following entries are examples of what some customers chose to do with their NPoint Gold. Remember that these implementations are just different configurations of the same product.

The first example has additional functionality that allows the user to choose a Key Frame. This frame is accessible to all applications and is used by a number of the applications to provide a graphical image associated with the clip.

The following is used to segment video using a low res proxy copy of the video. The video window has the ability to play a varitey of low res videos and use this video, instead of the Video Server's output, to segment shows, or trim clips.
