Watch it. Fix it if you can.
NStatus Gold is monitoring software that monitors some of the NVerzion applications and optionally tries to find a solution to detected problem if it can. Some of the NVerzion applications run somewhat in the background, perhaps in the rack room and you might not know they are not running until it is too late. NStatus Gold will notify you if any of the applications it is configured to run are lost and, in many cases, will try to either restart the missing application or try to start a backup application.

It might not be much to look at but is has a lot of power. NStatus Gold can run on any PC that is connected to the NVerzion network and you can have as many of them as you want. Traditionally they run minimized but will bring itself to the forefront of the main window if it senses a problem. Traditionally the device detected with a problem will be flashing red. If configured to do so, NStatus Gold will try to restart the delinquent application or start a backup one. NStatus Gold can be configured to send an SNMP message to a 3rd party over sear. The potential of the over sear is dependent on the 3rd party vendor and might include the use of alarms, network notification and even email messages.
The power of NStatus Gold can best be described by its configuration window.
NStatus Gold works by connecting as a client to NBase, EMCRouter and EMCNT. It does not read the database, nor switch the router, nor send machine commands, but it will show up as a client in each of the enabled applications. One of the great things about TCP/IP communication is if the connection between the two is lost, NStatus Gold is notified immediately. The configuration gives you the ability to set a fail count, a flag indicating whether you want NStatus Gold to try to re-launch the application or try to start a backup application. You can also specify a relay to fire if you need to switch the machine control from a standard EMCNT to its backup. You can also monitor specific devices.
An example might be EMC Router. EMC Router is used by control applications to switch the router. EMC Router usually runs on-site but sometimes runs in different cities and even in a different state then you are located. EMC Router is generally extremely reliable but the PC can be turned off, or eventually fail, or the network could be lost. An application like EMCRouter you might not notice is not communicating until you try to do a switch and nothing happens. That is always too late. NStatus Gold will notify you immediately. Optionally it can try to rectify the problem, either by attempting to restart the application or launching a backup one.
