WWAY-TV Enhances Operation with NVerzion’s Automation
and Video Server Solution
Salt Lake City, UT - December 2024 – WWAY-TV recently transitioned its broadcast automation system to a comprehensive package featuring NVerzion’s automation solutions, and NFinity Video Servers. The upgrade also incorporated Utah Scientific’s advanced routing system, providing an integrated solution designed to streamline operations and improve reliability for the station.
The transition came at a critical time for WWAY-TV. “The new NVerzion system came at the perfect time due to the aging of the old system,” said Tyler Garner, the station’s chief engineer. “Our previous system was failing due to age and numerous modifications. It was time for a new platform, and NVerzion delivered exactly what we needed.”
One of the standout features of the NVerzion system is its ability to securely connect to the internet, allowing remote access and support. This marked a significant advancement for WWAY-TV, where past automation systems were entirely isolated. The ability to access and control the system remotely is a game-changer for
WWAY, particularly vital with today’s lean-engineering teams and time constraints.

The NVerzion system’s playlist structure was another highlight, praised for its user-friendly design and functionality. Though NVerzion’s system is complex and powerful, it operates with simplicity at the user endpoint, allowing operators with experience in other systems to quickly adapt. NVerzion’s commitment to customer support has also been a key differentiator. “The support from NVerzion has been phenomenal,” Garner said. “If issues arise, their engineering team is quick to provide solutions within a short timeframe. It’s refreshing to work with a company that listens to our feedback and fine-tunes the system to our specific needs.”

Any concerns about integrating new and legacy hardware were met head-on with a seamless transition. The engineering teams collaborated effectively, ensuring all components communicated successfully. WWAY’s team has emphasized the importance of tailored solutions, noting NVerzion understands that not every station operates the same way. Their ability to customize the system to its specific needs has made a significant difference. NVerzion’s support, including the company’s leadership, has been available consistently, even diving into coding adjustments to address unique challenges.

WWAY-TV, along with four other Morris Multimedia group stations, are set up and configured to be controlled by the Broadcast Origination Center, WXXV in Gulfport Mississippi. All six stations have similar NVERZION Automation and NFinity Video Server systems providing local control, with the ability for WXXV to remotely control any of the stations for any reason.

“We’re very happy to continue our strong partnership with WWAY-TV and support their growth with the Automation and NFinity Video Server package,” said Reed Haslam, NVerzion’s Director of Sales. “This acquisition underscores our commitment to delivering top-tier broadcast quality and operational efficiency to their viewers. Not only was the Automation and NFinity Video Server project a huge success, WWAY-TV has recently purchased and installed our latest NewsRoom Playout and Dynamic Archive solution, NGage.”

With WWAY-TV’s transition to NGage, the station now benefits from native media file transfers with news delivery services and editors, optimizing news gathering and processing. Overall, this upgrade has positioned the station to meet the demands of modern broadcasting with confidence and efficiency. NVerzion’s total solution represents a leap forward in broadcast automation, delivering robust performance, enhanced security, and unparalleled support.
