ATXN Expands Remote Broadcast Operations with the Web Hybrid Utility

Salt Lake City, UT - February 2026 – ATXN, the City of Austin’s government access television station, has expanded its broadcast control capabilities with the addition of NVerzion’s Web Hybrid utility, enabling secure, flexible remote operation across its growing multi-studio environment.

ATXN has relied on NVerzion broadcast systems for many years, incorporating automation, timing, recording, and editing solutions as its operational demands have evolved. The deployment of Web Hybrid marks a significant step in supporting ATXN’s increasingly distributed broadcast model, which now includes multiple in-house studios, remote locations, and linear and streaming channels.

As ATXN’s coverage has expanded substantially—now supporting hundreds of live government meetings and public events each year—the ability to securely manage broadcast operations from outside the facility has become essential. The station operates with a small staff while maintaining continuous coverage of city council meetings, public forums, and live events across multiple platforms.

NVerzion’s Web Hybrid provides authorized personnel with secure, browser-based access to core broadcast controls, allowing operators to manage schedules, make live programming adjustments, and maintain continuity from virtually any location. These capabilities proved especially valuable during severe Texas ice storms, when station personnel were unable to physically reach the facility. Despite those conditions, ATXN was able to maintain operations remotely and continue live programming without interruption.

“The ability to control our systems wherever we are is critical,” said Garry Wilkison, Chief Engineer, ATXN.TV Operations. “Web Hybrid gives us the flexibility to manage live events, make real-time changes, and keep everything running—even when we can’t be at the station.” In addition to remote access, Web Hybrid supports ATXN’s complex scheduling requirements, including program identification, promotional breaks, downstream keying, and real-time information updates during live government meetings.

These functions help the station maintain compliance with FCC broadcast standards while supporting long-form, non-commercial programming. Wilkison also cited NVerzion’s long-standing commitment to service and system reliability as a key factor in the station’s continued partnership. “I’ve worked with many automation systems over the years, and NVerzion’s equipment has consistently been reliable,” he said. “Their support team is responsive and hands-on. When issues come up, they focus on solving the problem first—and that matters in broadcast.”

Another advantage has been NVerzion’s ability to integrate with ATXN’s existing enterprise infrastructure, including long-established routing systems. “Their systems integrate cleanly with the enterprise servers and routing platforms we’ve used for decades,” Wilkison added. “That level of interoperability is a big plus.”

From NVerzion’s perspective, the project reflects a long-term collaboration built on trust and shared operational goals. “We’ve had a strong working relationship with the City of Austin and ATXN for many years,” said Reed Haslam, Sales Manager at NVerzion. “As their operation continues to grow, we’re proud to support that expansion with solutions that deliver flexibility, reliability, and seamless integration—now and into the future.”
